Hey guys I'm having trouble knowing which pairs of standard potential equations when it comes to electrolysis,. As you know there are about 3 different water half equations on the table and sometimes they are mixed with metal ones but other times (like if there are two inert electrodes) the reactions are between both the water ones.

Sorry if I worded this strangely, Im just really confused. As far as I know is that for electrolysis, the anode is below the cathode on the table but still flips just like for galvanic cells and also O2 gas at anode and h2 gas at cathode usually

Can someone hopefully please explain it so I can understand this concept more clearly
