Short Answer Questions (1 Viewer)

For the short answer question section of a test I know that visual or literary 'techniques' are only required for certain questions.
Could somebody clarify when they are required? I know that they are required when there is 'How' in the question, or if blatantly asked to use techniques.
Does the inclusion of 'Why' in a question require you to use techniques as well?

If this is an English question, since when do you not use any techniques to supplement your answer?

If it says "why" in the title, you need to use a technique to explain why that is the case.
