Should I keep English Advanced or drop to Standard? (1 Viewer)

Hi, I'm starting year 11 this year and I'm having second thoughts about picking English Advanced.

Although I'm in the top class for English in my school (5.3) and getting straight As in English, I hate the subject. I hate reading and mostly use Sparknotes quotes and my friend's notes for my essays. I never read the books and instead use video summaries. So I don't know how I'm going to study English Advanced for two years.

I know that English Advanced scales way better than English Standard, but wouldn't a band 6 in English Standard be good? People in my school are saying that I should drop to English Standard cause it'll be easier to get a band 6, but other people are saying that I shouldn't cause it scales badly and it's challenging to get a band 6 in. I am very confused.

So should I keep English Advanced or drop to Standard?

Probably keep it for now, if yr 11 eng was too hard and you can feel yourself suffering with the subject then yeah drop but since its still early and you haven’t started class yet, you have yet to understand what the next two years are actually going to look like

theres no way in hell u'll get a band 6 in standard barely anyone can. adv is easier to get a band 6 than a b4 in standard. just stick it thru - mind over matter.

Lmao I never read any text throughout high school and easily b6’d it. If I was you I’d keep it.
