Sorry, but how can a girl and a guy have a real friendship if he is longing to be with her?

because, to be frank, chances are... you'll get over it. i've had exactly the same situation, where one of us wasn't interested, and while it was awkward for a while, we got over it and remained friends.

Exactly my point, you can only be friends when there is no attraction.

Tell her how you feel and whatever happens after, you'll know.
Its better to know than not.

not necessarily, like i see where you're coming from, but it's not like "oh no! i want to kiss you, we can never be friends again!". i dunno, maybe it's different for other people

Do not tell her how you feel.

You've been talking to a chick for a bit, then you says "look jess, i really like you blah blah blah."

What is she going to do. Eyes light up in amazement and kiss you?

or

Say "ummmm ok, i'm going to stand over here now"?

Just tell her you wanna get serious and then go from there!
You'll wind up going crazy if you don't tell her.
Nothing would be different, if she says no....find another girl
if she says yes.....go for the kiss!!

If you tell her how you feel, OUT OF THE BLUE LIKE THIS WILL BE, you are dramatically raising the chances of rejection.

You don't have to tell her how you feel to get your message across.

Yeah, but wait broke the wagon down!
Just tell her......hey....if she don't like you.....there are other fish in the sea!
So.....go on and tell her/ask her how she feels.

Don't tell her how you feel.

Just take her somewhere, where you two can be alone, and then take it from there. Use her body language, and you should be able to tell if she is digging you or not. If you think she is then make a move. Simple.

Hollywood shows guys that if you tell a chick HOW YOU FEEL it will automatically win over a girl. It will only change the atmosphere and more than likely negatively. Even if she does say she likes you back. What do you do there......it becomes awkward.

ok, sorry, that wasn't really clear. what i meant was... we really are not all slaves to our hormones. yeah, it might feel like a big, friendship altering thing now, but it doesn't necessarily mean it WILL alter your friendship, you see what i mean?

like, i can see how you feel like it's going to ruin your friendship (if she doesn't reciprocate), but it doesn't HAVE to. just keep that in mind. have you done it yet? : ) in any case, good luck

it will affect the relationship though.... this actually happened to me a couple of days ago, and i think it's a natural reaction to take a few steps back. as in, to show that he wasn't going to pursue things any further he distanced himself a bit. well, that's what i perceived... and in that situation, if the guy didn't back down a bit i think the chick would...just to neutralise things a bit. so i think it's ideal to say that your relationship won't change. in the long term however, things generally go back to normal. and of course, it depends on how the chick reacts too, as an individual.

btw, how did it go??!?!?
