Hey all.

Just wanted to share with those of you who haven't heard the album yet, Silverchair's 'Diorama' is FANTASTIC. Normally, I would not have listened to their style of music, but this album really intrigued me and I can't stop listening to it. No matter what mood I'm in, there seems to be a track on the album that 'brings me back to centre'.

I think Tracks 1 (Across the Night'), 2(Greatest View), 3(Without you), 8(Luv Your Life) and 11(After All these Years) are the BEST!

What do you all think of the album or of the songs you've heard?

I've been a sorta-fan of silverchair since Frogstomp came out. I own all their albums, and each album has some great, stand out songs, but it always sounded like they were a bit "unrefined", for want of a better word, like they were reaching for something and not quite getting it. I think they "got it" with Diorama. (whatever "it" is, lol.) They'll never be my fave band, not even a top 10, but Daniel Johns is a good songwriter, and it's great to see a popular band that is willing to step outside the square and experiment with different sounds. It's especially good to hear some songs from them that aren't all angst ridden and angry.

my favourite silverchair album is 'neon ballroom' ... i guess that 'diorama' was more instrumental and, i might go so far as to say, polished when compared with the bands previous work ... i guess the highlight was probably 'after all these years' ...

I love the fact that Diorama is instrumental - it has such a grand and deep sound! And the vocals are excellent.

However, what I like most is the fact that every time I hear their songs, I discover a new meaning. Daniel Johns actually said that he wasn't sure whether others would like this album because it wasn't as self-explanatory as most songs today are and that some people would not appreciate that. But I like the fact that it sounds different to me after every hearing.

Does anyone know what Across the Night, Without you or After all these Years is actually about??? Or what do you think it is about?

Yes...great album both Neon Ball rooma and Diorama are good.

I swaw them live when i was in yr 7...when they toured with PLacebo and Suade. . . i was so small then and had all these huge guys moshing around me. . . a very intense moment

.

i'm in love with silverchair right now...going to one of their concerts in april... and luv your life and after all these years are really good, albeit a bit depressing...well i think so anyway, even though the're sposed to be optimistic and stuff..

it's really different to their old stuff...neon ballroom...and their even old stuff, frogstomp which is more metal or heavy rock or something. diorama's got a more of an electronica/instrumental sorta influence, which sounds fanshpastic.

i find that with my favourite albums it took me quite a few listens to get into them...as for albums that i like after the first or second time of hearing them, i usually get sick of them within 1-2 weeks....

yeh ... most memorable albums have to grow ... as the words eventually make sense and the music blends in ... thats sort of the same with my most favorite albums ... well, i use them to study so i only listen to the half the time so they eventually sink in :)
