for my money, the most solid straight-up rock album of the year, and enough to convert me from an admirer to a fan. no riot-grrl cliches or half-hearted attempts at maturity, just great songs with massive obnoxious guitars and drums. rawk.

ah, i love corin's eyes...

call the doctor and dig me out were cool, but the hot rock and one beat felt a little too forced. i've kinda written them off as too much of a 'critic's band', but this new one's cast all my doubts aside.

all hands on the bad one was (for the most part) really shit
the hot rock is the best, this is almost as good. i am waiting to get over the excitement of new sleater-kinney before i say it is the best record ever though

i am warming to it even more, but the one thing that REALLY annoys me is that weird fuzziness on modern girl! at first i thought it was something wrong with my cd but i looked on their forums and there was a big thread about it. i love the song but it just makes it sound weird...

second thing that annoys me about it- i burnt a copy for my boyfriend (i love boys who love sleater kinney) and i gave it to him today, but we put it back in my bag because he didn't have pockets, and he forgot to get it when he left. ANNOYINGGG i want more people to hear it and appreciate it

i love the massive swarm of fuzz on that song... starts off placid and relatively boring and gets increasingly disorienting. maybe a bit gimmicky, but still...

i love the song, it's probably my favorite on the record but the fuzz just doesn't seem to fit. i did read a while ago corin said they were trying to make the fans disoriented or something, but i don't know. it doesn't even sound like artsy feedback ala the breeders, it just sounds like bathroom-echo recording fuzz.
