Ya know, if you did better than 40% of all the students doing EXT2 maths, it still gets scaled up. And heck, of course I can do that! Ext2 maths is like a gaurantee band 5, so if i work a little bit more I can get a band 6. But no... I was stupid enough to let the teachers make myself talk myself out of doing Ext2 maths, gosh.. how stupid. Its only logical, look at sydney grammer, 80% of their students does ext2 maths!

band 5? there is only E band 4 in extension subjects. :p

but scailing really isn't an argument, its just that 4u math is a very good course compared the sister version of 4u english. because by studying it you don't need to study for 3u and if math is your strength then you got 4units of good marks instead of just 3 in your uai calculations.

most teachers are idiots.... if math is your best subject then you should do 4u to maximise your uai. should call the board up and complain to get 4u... and try to get the teachers fired for tricking you. :D

you're not gaurunteed the second highest band in ext 2 maths .. trust me, i know
Iunny, do you go to sydney grammar?
look at ruse. just about everyone does 4 unit maths :p
but then again, my friend came first for ext 2 and mathematices in year 11, and he's not doing ext 2 maths. i beleive that if you can do really well in ext 1 and maths, then it will save you time to stay with what you already come first in. us ext 2 people no only have to study for ext 1 maths, but also ext 2. ext 1 people only have to study for ext 1 because 2 unit maths is easy :p so calm down, you're doing probably 60% less work than us :)

yea trust her...

ruse have everyone doing 4u??? i thought it was like only around half of the people doing it for some obscure reason.

the school with most 4u student would have to be syd boys or one of them boy selectives. how many people go to grammar... since its a boy selective/private then it should be one of the tops in math.

i thought sydney grammar is only prestigiuos because it offers only a few scholarships and is a private school.

sydney grammar is prestigeous for sure. sounds cool... i think at least a quater of the population there is selective and proly at a standard of JR. thats why they are in the top 5-10 school in the state.

and that JR thing... i mean't half, ie 50% or something like that. :p

because i heard there was some restriction on the number of students doing 4u math at that school. who goes JR here??? +Po1ntDeXt3r+... is this true?

JR people are mostly asian farmers anyway... math is not for them :p

hmm.
yeh don't take for granted that you will beat 40% of the ext2 kids.
go have a look at the stats and with your uber maths skills, work out how many people 40% of the candidature constitutes. keep in mind that very few people would survive ext2 if they're not capable.

also, if you don't go to james ruse then you're not qualified to provide any statistics okay?

lol it's not so easy to succed in 4u
trust me i know
i slacked off and got done for it, i know i deserved it
little work means little results

even though i didn't get anywhere near the 90s for 4u, which is where most of the people get for 4u, they work bloody hard for it

Well those 40% of people have to be some people, and if they are doing Ext 2 Maths they wont be that dumb either.

I heard in JR they only accept their top 100 maths students... so a lot miss out
Trust me... 4U is a hell of a lot of work, if you want an E4
And top 40% is quite hard you know... you're competing against... crazy people

ur only competing against ppl in ur own school, its the RANK that count..
i know a guy who did his hsc in 200o and for 3 and 4U maths, he got first simply bcoz he only had about 6 ppl in 3u and 2 in 4u..
so he got first in both and got a really big boost!
just aim around top 3-4 and u'll most probably get a good uai

your rank counts for your internal assessment mark, i.e. 50% of your hsc... the other 50% comes from the hsc mark...(that everyone does) so basically, you're also competing against the state

If i was competing against the people from my school... I wouldve caned 4U... Unfortunately... that wasnt the case
