So what are the people like at Mac (1 Viewer)

I have Macquarie down as first preferance and 6th preferance, so i was wondering what the ppl are like are Macquarie and what is the Nationality background is it like fairly equal among all races, or prodominitely one nationality. Also how competitive is it in the Business faculty and IT faculty.
Do you guys have frats like american unis do?

it depends on your course but looking around the campus it's fairly evenly spread. there are people from almost all nationalities.

there are also all different types of people from all different backgrounds and situations and most people are very nice. if not, after you talk to them once just don't talk to them next time you see them.

what's an american frat? i don't think we have them.

haha, but its very mix, its not full asian as to compare faculty such as Commerce...

ppl r generally very friendly + easygoing. dress sense is very casual lol~ mq is known for being more social than the other big unis.

I really don't think Mac has frats like the US. Almost every American male college student I know is like "omg I hope one of the x frats I was invited into accepts me" whereas all the HSC 04s are just like "omg I hope I get into Uni... any uni!!!"

Plus, if they did have frats, surely we'd have heard of them by now. Only, they'd run out of greek numbers and start using weird Aussie things they made up

I can't wait to dive into Mac next year, provided I get in. It sounds like fun.

from what I've heard (and this is just rumours, I don't know anything about these frats, I'm not even in one ) Aussie frats are invitation only.

The frats on Mac uni are more a secretive organisation....

but then, I wouldn't know as, I repeat, I'm not in a frat.
