Hello all , Congrats to all 2005 hsc students for making it into uts in watever course u ever dreamed of ......

Well Just to my curiousity, till i begin uni in a month or so i wanna good glimpse into the social world of uts, im gonna be a lost asian dude wondering around into the larger world and gonna become recognised in reality as a student once again, so hows student life at uni are people sociable, friendly, outgoing , is making new friends hard at uts? or should i attend one of the orientation camps?!, is their anything to do around campus in spare time or anywhere nearby, is the campus lively like always active and exciting compared to say a parliament house tour, do u guys hold monthy events and ne other issues revolved around these points would be helpful in giving me a better understanding of the social society of UTS boradway campus.

thx alot in advance for whoever replies to my thread

cheers (^_^)

I was under the impression that it was 'compulsory' as it is an "integral component of Stage 1 of the course and there will be no other opportunity to catch up on the material covered"

But I was going to go anyway to meet some people so I won't be a loner first day of uni haha

The way I see UNI is you pay couple of grand to attend UNI to socialise. It's nothing but fun :)

Here's another point you will notice. First 2 weeks or so you'll attend all your classes busy studying etc. by 3rd week you'll have made plenty of friends that you'll stop writting and attending a few classes. You'll stay outside doing things :)

but yeah.. do what i unconciously did on enrolment/orientation/O-camp day and just start chatting to people.. seriously! what harm can that do! u may feel abit awkward but as long as the other person keeps replying you'll be fine :D -- well thats my theory :/

Parties suck at uts!

Actually... Heres an idea;

Become a Recluse.

Hey, don't walk away yet! think of the Positives:

- You never talk to anyone, thus you never talk to any one annoying
- You don't get distracted
- You get more sleep
- Very cheap life-style
- People start rumors about you [you might get a good 'creepy' one - they can be fun]
- Don't have to worry about homework stress, dince you'll most likly do it ou of boredom
- Life's very regulated. No [or less] unexpected surprises.

Personally, I think its a great idea. Any takers?

I do prefer to make friends than become a recluse... someone can help you with the work!

I usually make friends by being introduced to them by my other friends. But since I don't have any friends doing the same course with me in UTS (IT), I'll basically be forced to make new friends in the O-camp. I'm quite stressed about that actually!

Amateur...

What you do is become sooo reclusive - that people don't recognise you. [atleast not readily]. Then before the exams you mug a couple of your class mates - all of them if you can - and collaborate the notes into 'Uber Notes' and use that to succeed!

While at the same time reducing thier ability to pass as well. [Even better if you knock 'em out - maybe some memory loss. At least break thier hand so they can't write.]

It is quite easy. It has worked in the past - It will work again.
