Would it be possible to do SOFT1001 without the assumed knowledge of HSC Maths Extension 1? How crucial to this unit of study is maths?

I know I'll need uni maths for later on in my computer science major, but I'll be doing that in second year. I can't do the ext 1 bridging course this year (but I can do it next year.)

I can put off doing computer science subjects until 2005 if I need to, but I'd rather not.

I've done SOFT1901 and SOFT1902, and trust me, you really don't need it.

It might help with thinking logically, or something like that, but the course has no maths in it.

Yep just finished soft1001 and soft1002 and you don't do any maths in the subject at all.

Um well. you dont NEED 3u maths to do first year maths courses, cos they essentially start at the very beginning and work their way to more advanced stuff, however if uve done 3u maths u would have covered 70% of the stuff before making it easy. So it does help but you dont need it if you are prepared to do a few hours extra work a week.

I only did 2unit maths for my hsc and have just finished my first year maths subjects at uni. If you find the maths hard there is this center, where you can go to ask maths questions and its open everyday. I went there alot and it helped me. They also have extra tutorials which run more slowly over the topics covered in lectures.
