wonderin if anyone knows how the process works of trying out med at different unis?
did you travel all over australia? (must be a cheap way to do it!?)
which are the easier unis to get into?
i assume the dates don't clash, where/when do you find out this info?

also, does anyone know much about doing med through the ADF undergrad program? pros/cons?

as you can tell, im a n00b...answers would be much appreciated ..thanks

dates do clash its the amazing that u must learn to communicate as a medical practitioner.

yes.. there are both pros/cons.. SURPRISE!.. and u need to complete yr 1 to be offered it.. so dream of gettin in first..

there wasnt any question about "What Pros and cons are there?".. u asked if there were any.. and i figured there sure is.. i got offered so did skywalker and prolly inasero..
Pros/Cons are an individual thing.. so ure better off deciding for ureself.. from my pov, i dun lik the conditions.
http://www.defencejobs.gov.au

there are non-real medical courses: Oceania School of Medicine.. it advertises online.. but do no be fooled.. ..private uni Bond will take u with lower marks than other Universities for full fee... fo the public unis.. depends on ure marks and ure communication skills.. if u have neither.. ure not goin to get in.

Dates do clash and it depends on what the date a medical school offer u for an interview time.. but this is on their websites.. did u find those?

the questions uve asked are very common for every1 who wants to study medicine which means they've been answered many times in other threads. Read them first they have heaps of good info. Also visit the individual uni websites. its best u form ure own optinion and ul learn more by reaserching it yourself. All med courses at all uni's are hard to get into not 1 is easier than the others they just have different selection criterias (info on this can be found in other threads and at the uni websites).

i didn''t mean to sound rude pointdexter, my apologies if i did
i was just wondering if anyone who actually did the ADF program could comment on it, but nevermind. don't need to worry bout that now.

i didn't know you could do med for full fee, thanks for that...will check it out

no i haven't seen the interview times, have a link?

thanks zali, at the time i couldn't be bothered searchin through the 100's of threads, so i thought i just create a new one. most threads are ancient anyway.

My young padawan, not meaning to offend or anything but research is a very important part of entrance into medical school and it's important for prospective medical students to show enthusiasm, hard work, independence and initiative. Which is why I wrote many other people off for asking questions they could easily have found the answer to. I understand it can be a big hassle to search through all the threads thats why Alvin (pointdexter) and I have posted up the important things you need to know in the "Important" threads listed at the top. Alvin's interstate guide is very useful and a good summary, as is the ACER booklet. Also, I've listed all the relevant sites in the "Read here first" thread so have a dig around there.

Of course if your question is relevant and not something which could be answered by basic research the others will be more than willing to help.

As for your question re: the military scholarships- they give you a significant sum of scholarship money but you have to work for them x+1 years for every x years they sponsor you. The reason I didn't apply is because they don't want to accept specialists because these are usually outsourced anyway (similar to locums) and they want physicians who can practice full time, so they would encourage you to specialise in general practice, aviation medicine, diving medicine, tropical medicine etc etc. none of which I am paticularly interested in. I guess, you have to be aware that you will be sigining away x+1 years of your life and who knows if your circumstances might change between now and graduation or whether your career aspirations might change? That said, the conditions are really quite good and you get alot of freebies. I can give you the contact detail of one of the senior medical students in my university who is being sponsored at the moment if you ant to get in touch with him, just send me a private message.

Depends what you do. If you choose to, you can spend the rest of your life sleeping 4 hours a night like one of my tutors does. He's currently lecturing, facilitating PBL sessions, overseeing PhD students, working as a surgeon and writing/illustrating an anatomy book.

Or you could get a cushy job as an opthamologist, work 4.5 days a week and finish at 4 every arvo. It's completely up to you.
