1) Outline 2 peices of experimental evidence that the wave model could not explain (this is to do with light being photons)

2) Describe an investigation you could carry out to demonstrate that the motion of a projectile can be analysed by seperating the motion into independent horizontal and vertical components

3) Describe an experiment you could perform to test where you were in an inertial frame of reference..

1) The photoelectric effect (frequency, not amplitude is proportional to energy) and the blackbody radiation curve (classical theory cannot account for the characteristic peaks for certain temperatures and wavelengths)

2) Perhaps compare the total projectile motion with motion in a constant horizontal velocity only (e.g. something moving along a smooth horizontal surface at constant velocity), and repeat with motion vertical velocity only (e.g. dropping an object) then show that the equations of motion hold true for individual horizontal and vertical components as well as the total projectile.......or something like that

3) Typical experiment is to attach an object hanging in supension via a string to a vehicle such as a car/bike. Accelerate the vehicle and note that there is observed relative motion of the object (thus non-inertial frame of reference), then move it at constant velocity and observe zero relative motion of the object (thus inertial frame of reference)...etc

well answered.

for 2) what you could do is construct a piece of hard cardboard or wooden board. use a chalk to divide the board into a 4x4 "chess board", and slant it on one edge.

when you roll the ball down the path, you observe an effective projectile motion. only several times slower. two stop watches can be used to record displacement vs time.
