1. what is institutionalised inequality? what are institutions in this context - courts, parliament UN ?

2. what type of crime would child pornography be?

3. would making fake id's and credit cards be economic offence

4. this one really pisses me off - what are legal measures?... are they like courts, legislation, extradition and what else? and would say courts/extradition be one legal measure or two separate legal measures

5. two multiple choice q's from past hsc's which confuse me

2001 q.11 - correct answer is (a)

which of the following statements best describes the concept of the rule of law
(a)everyone must obey the law and no one is above the law
(b)everyone must be heard by an unbiased decision maker and know the reason for the decision
(c) and (d) are obvious wrongs

2003 q.6

which of the following provides for formal equality before the law

correct answer is - rule of law

So what is the rule of law? because to me 2001 q11 (b) - "unbiased" to me means that you are treated equally

Thanks in advance

Wish I could but i don't think I could give u an airtight answer for any of the questions there... Dig in to the forum a bit, do a bit of research, I'm sure u'll find what your looking for, as for the multiple choice u found a stumper, all i can say is that in that situation, i try and memorise a question's literal meaning so when i see a simular question it's much easier to pick apart. It sounds foolish but that methoad has always worked for me. Hope i was helpful... (well a little bit)

The rule of law is exactly as it says in the 2001 question - very simply put, "No one is above the law." It means that governments, politicians and police etc have to obey the same laws as us (theoretically).

Institutionalised inequality usually appears in the workplace. It's the whole equality of oppurtunity thing - although they hire the people with the best qualifications regardless of gender, disability, or ethnicity, often anglo-saxon fit males have had more oppurtunity to gain these qualifications and thus get the job.

Things like Affirmative Actions Acts are designed to produce "equality of outcomes", so the Affirmative Action [Equal Oppurtunity for Women] Act 1986 would see a woman favoured over a man. Anti-Disctrimination lasw also promote affirmative action.
