My sound has stopped working for some reason. i tried putting in different speakers and even headphones and still no sound. i tried reinstalling the driver, and nothing. it happened suddenly and i dont remember changing any settings. any suggestions on what to look for or how to fix it?

Check the volume. A while ago someone had no sound, turned out it was all muted in the volume controls.

Is the sound card identified as a problem device in the Device Manager?

it was being identified without any problems. i changed the slot, as above, and its ok now. thanks guys for your help.

it's not a common problem with every sound card

just the sound blaster audigy sound cards

i've only heard of audigy getting it, but there you go i stand corrected :)
