Don't forget it's not a predictor.. the 2004 results could be extremely different.

That's why it can be good to underestimate your abilities and not be so generous when predicting your marks. I've always thought it's better to be pleasantly surprised than disappointed. :)

well taking that into consideration, mine would approximately be roughly between 96-98! now its down to the hard work to actually get that in reality!

yeah true...school assessment marks don't always indicate how Your HSC will be...it all depends on the day of the exam.

true. school assessment marks have NOTHING TO DO with the hsc exam. you don't know how difficult the exam will be as perfection said, but you also don't know how difficult your schools assessments are in comparison, how 'smart' your grade is when compared to the rest of the state

mine was 94 if i got like 80 in everything. if i work hard and get goood marks then i could get 98! exciting stuff! and i wasnt heaps unrealistic either.

I might just reiterate what honky tonk said and point out that SAM was not designed to predict UAIs.

But you are of course free to interpret the information it provides in any manner you wish.

Im confused then, if it isn't a predictor, then what is it.

Technically it's not really a UAI predictor unless you are able to predict your HSC marks, and even then the program doesn't try to predict the new scaling factors at all.

It is an assessment modeller - it calculates what your UAI would have been had you sat the HSC in a previous year and achieved the marks entered.

So whats the difference between the SMA and UAI seeker.
In addition to attempting to calculate past UAIs, the UAISeeker tries to predict the scaling for the ensuing year and then uses this prediction to forecast students' UAIs.
