I was just wondering if anybody knows where the HSC exam questions are sourced from?
Are they sourced from just the HSC syllabus/outcomes, or the Prelim syllabus too?
I've heard that examiners can only ask questions based on the HSC syllabus, but they can relate to Prelim outcomes. Is that right?

The exam committees are made up of experienced teachers that are not teaching the HSC that year.

The exams are set up around the Objectives of the course, rather than the individual outcomes or dotpoints. The idea is to cover all objectives. The emphasis is on the HSC outcomes but the outcomes from Preliminary are also part of the objectives, so are examinable.

The contextual outlines in science subjects are also examinable.

So stuff from preliminary is tested in the HSC? I thought that excluding Maths HSC is all Year 12 work.

Year 11 work is 'assumed knowledge' but not directly assessable (besides 2 questions in all Maths subjects)

Run away. Far away from N.S.W and avoid the HSC at all costs. You have to slave away at your study while your youth goes down the drain. It's quite deplorable, really.

Agreed. Who cares about the future?

Yeah, that's what my bio teacher said today; that to answer some questions in the HSC exam, you need to have that prior knowledge (from prelim course) in order to answer it to Band 6 standard.
