DESPERATE to know how people approached Russia part a). I think I did it wrong and am really hoping there are others in the same boat!

anything in particular that concerns you in regards to the question?
i thought it was quite broad considering the time span.
I think different people in my school approached it in variations.
I talked about everything from conflicts in Bolshevik seizure of power, the civil war, kronstadt, conflicts over implementing war comm, including differing visions by the populace, nep, struggle for power (brief), conflict btw socialism in one country and permanent revolution, Stalinist policies (dekulakisation, industrialisation, collectivisation) and the encountered conflicts including Riutin Affair;
Of course i made sure my arguement was cohesive in line with the question and although my discussions of each component weren't in depth i think the question was ok. As i said though depends on how you approach the question. The great thing about these broad q is that the markers are likely to see a myriad of approaches.
hope that helps :)

definitely helpful thanks.
im a thematic kind of essayist so i talked about it in terms of social, economic, and foreign policies and the implementation of communism. i was able to include most of the examples you mentioned and i managed to include the conflicts/differing views of some of the more minor figures like Bukharin, Zinoviev and Kamenev. Hopefully its ok, I talked about enough things for the markers to find marks, just worried it wasn't logical enough.

I did a few pages for this question. Talked about so many things from start to finish of communism, from it's roots etc up until 1991. Added Cuban missile crisis and the negotiation with Kennedy with the Jupitor missiles in Turkey, Afghan war with Israel supplying russian weapons to the Afghans, all to do with communism, tactics and their cat and mouse game with the west :) plus alot more :)

I did the differing versions of power too. or watever the question was...
it was hard in the exam to work out to what extent your talking about Bolshevik seizure of power... i actually spent a while talking about the power struggle because i thought that was, to the largest extent how and why Russia became communist by 1941- not saying trotsky woudn't have mirrored Stalin's actions nontheless...
it feels so weird to have done modern!!!!!!!!!!! did modern take over anyones life? and now its over.....
i love Russia though, i want to take up history next year...

Mate i hope you're talking about the Cold War option and not the Soviet Russia under Lenin and Stalin option. Because the question this thread is talking about asked for a discussion speicifically between 1917-41. If you wrote about anything after 1941, it won't count...
