Sparta - military - syllabus (1 Viewer)

hey....im trying to make notes on sparta by the syllabus, but the syllabus has like 2 seperate headings in it for military. Under 1 part it says 'military elite' and in the other it says 'military way of life'................im not exactly sure what info to put under each heading. Like whats the difference and what am i sposed to put under them. If anyone can help me - that would be great. Sorry 4 being confusing lol

Yeah the military section is kind of split in the syllubus

the military elite focus specifaclly on the spartan men
- the hoplites
- battle tactics - the Phalanx
*advantages of these tactics
*distadvantages
-Eligability for military service
-Chain of command
-Camp life


under hte military way of life you could look at how the miltiary activities impacted on everyday life in sparta
- the syssitia - public messess
*obligations of the spartans to the public mess
-Religious festivals tied with military
- Importance of religon in the army
- training of young spartans to be hoplites - education system

dont forget that the military way of life virtually encompasses everything in the spartan society - right down to the role of women and the statues of gods holding weapons found in the society. there is so much that comes under that area, however, its virtually all covered everywhere else in the syllabus. its kind of a dot point that brings it all together.
