Do you think you treat your friends better than you treat your family?

Why?

I'd say most take their family for granted, and thus aren't the nicest they can possibly be to them.

But for friends, we're aware they don't necessarily last forever, so we're keen to maintain the relationship.

i think i dont mean 2 treat my family any worse, but i think i take them for granted...because they're always there.

ur_inner_child said exactly what I wanted to say.

I took my parents for granted until they took everything away from me besides the roof over my head. It was punishment for being an idiot...

Anyhows I think I nintentionally treat them not as well because I know they'd forgive me.. idk

For me, i look at it the other way; my family treats me worse than my friends.

Then again, my friends are great people as well, so makes my family look even worse :mad1:

You can pick your friends, but you can't pick your family.

you realise you just said exactly the same thing as her

i think most people take their family for granted and are nicer to their friends. but i think when it comes to family issues (ie. parents splitting up) friends dont understand the situation as well as the rest of your family (and vice versa for friend problems)

where will you be without your family? theyve toiled day in and day out and raised you for what...the past 18 years of your life? i know some people dont get along with their folks, but they are your parents after all so you should honour and respect them
needless to say, friends are equally important as well....there are some things which cant be said to your parents, so your friends are there to listen to whatever problems you might have, so yes i do treat my parents and my friends the same, because one without the other will get you nowhere

i think the fact that i have been able to forgive my family for just about ANYTHING is testament to the fact that they, in fact, receive special treatment, regardless of whether or not it appears to be that way from an external point of view.
i'd say most people are the same.
