Split an .avi file (1 Viewer)

whats the best program to split up an .avi file into sections.

i can do it when i convert avi to a DVD but i just want it to remain in avi format but give me a few little clips.

Virtual Dub has one, but make sure you have a bit of space.

i dont think this is what i need. i tihnk this devides a file into pieces but they wont work apart.

VirtualDub is an ass to get working, just try one of the shareware programs, you get 30 days anyway.
