Got it on Saturday at JB for 79 bucks. Going fine until I got a bit into Space stage. Cunting thing keeps crashing now. Just emailed EA Support.

But anyway.....
It's pretty good but not as good as I expected. First four stages were really quick. Plus by the time you get the hang of the new controls in Tribal Stage you already move to Civilisation. Got f'd in the a during civilisation, kept dying. Changed my tactics and eventually took over ze world.

I like space stage but the constant homeworld attacks are getting tedious. Why is my system right on the edge of three war civilisations. Sure I'm a violent civilisation too but they outnumber me :( Currently doing a lot of trading (when shit ISNT freezing) to buy existing colonies from my allies.

Was a bit  with changing the T-level of a planet at first. The tutorial didn't explain it that well. Got the hang of it nao.

I do like how you can roam the entire galaxy. I thought it was confined to area my homeworld was in at first but then I was exploring and zoom'd out to see where I was and went OH SWEET. TO THE CENTRE OF TEH GALAXY

But yeah, ultimately, pretty enjoyable. I just wish it were MOAR stable.

Perhaps it's your machine? You were running a non-standard version of windows right?

i got mine for $74 from big w.
I totally agree about things progressing too quickly.
Atm, i'm only enemies with the Grox. My species is apparently a religious one so i try to make allies first. but If they dont cooperate and their empire is small enough i just invade. Religious empires get this great socialisation tool that allows u to just fly down to a planet and instantly convert the entire planet to your beliefs. I only use it on home planets (so i get loads of cities to produce/store spice).

I'm not as impressed as i thought i'd be. I want so much to return my creature to the ocean but i couldn't. Instead i got eaten by sea monsters. Plus it feels like it's near impossible to collect all the parts without being carnivorous.

No doubt they'll release a plethora of expansion packs, but right now the game doesnt have that limitless feel of will wright's previous titles like simcity and the sims. I hate directional gameplay and missions but it's the only way to operate in this game. Why cant i choose the site of my nest in the creature stage? why can't i change the site of my capital/home planet (this would have been particularly useful at one stage where my city was completely surrounded by enemies because i decided i wanted to invade them all. My home planet shrunk from 12 cities to 5.) why can't i choose the destination when i fly through a blackhole? (i paid several million simoleons for the ability!)
also, why cant flying creatures land on anything other than the ground? i put wings on my creature because it was quicker to travel but had i not been a vicious carnivore and been a timid herbivore, it would have been beneficial to be able to fly away and out of reach of predators on the ground.

You should've made a new thread :s

I pirated it, so I can't share my stuff :(. I got the the space age in a day or two of casual play.

It's a lot like the Sims in how easy it is to get over it. Yeah, there's lots to do in the sims world, but after I get to the top of my career and get the "bonked 10 women" award, I suddenly get over it.

That said, it's been a great experience so far, even though from what I've seen in the space age it's going to get incredible boring and tedious. Seeding planets and making allies looks painful!

i disagree. I play the sims ignoring the mini-games (or life goals). Only recently have i grown tired of it in light of more information on The sims 3. If you get sick of one sim you can always have children (legitimate or not. ur choice ;)) or just make a new building. they're variety and u create ur own direction. With spore, once u've fulfilled a goal u pretty much have to move forward, regardless of whether u want to or not.

space stage is kind of annoying one ship to protect all your other planets.

So my first species (on planet pootopia) was a herbivore and went on the "good" path the whole way. My new species is a carnivore. I collected every piece in both cell and the next one and am about to start tribal. It's really boring.

Also, those epic big fuckers with like 1,000 health suck. They 1-shot you when you attack, even though my little group are awesome at killing shit.

i think those 1000hp creatures are just there so that ur never the dominant species until u reach a cultural evolution in the tribal stage.
and then u need to become the dominant race in the civilisation stage.
and then u need to become the dominant power in the space stage.

it's boring starting from scratch.

i think u need to have a certain number of houses before u can build more vehicles. But even if u do max out a city's limit, there's a total of 12 cities there to use. The individual limit placed on cities is sufficiently large enough to not become a concern if you have enough cities.
