Where does it say that shes NUS President? I thought she was just going for it (which you are right, doesn't really help at all, seeing as NUS President is a full time job in Melbourne) but did we get confirmation?

I'm just concerned about one person having so much power.

With the notable exception of Jodie Jensen, NUS presidents have traditionally come from USYD. Jensen took the presidency because Jo Haylen did not want it.

The problem with that of course is, like in our Federal/State and Council Electrol voting systems, compulsory voting has often been trumpeted as an infringement upon democratic rights.

It is. Voter turnout would be increased, however, if the SRC actually took it upon themselves to provide services the mainstream student population gave a shit about. Unfortunately this isn't going to happen until those who don't give a shit start voting. Such a conundrum is our SRC.
