Re: SRC Reps and OB's for 2007

You're below the executive punjabi.

I'm sure someone who's not as drunk as I am could think of something funny to say about that...

Re: SRC Reps and OB's for 2007

Hey, I didn't have the numbers. I ran for Womyn's Officer, Ethnic Affairs Officer, Intercampus Officer AND Intercampus Committee. The only one I really wanted was Intercampus, but even with the Liberal and Unity votes I was unable to secure enough votes.

I am, however, pleased that Voice was able to secure seats on most of the important SRC committees. Congratulations must go to Justin, Sonia, Ben, Catriona and Andrew - all of whom will speak for the true majority of students on our SRC committees next year.

Also, I'd like to reaffirm my disgust at affirmative action. 50% of office bearers MUST be women, yet none have to actually be competent.

First SRC meeting next year I'm gonna try to amend the constitution for AA to say that "if the number of women interested in a position is less than half the number of positions available, then they are automatically elected and the rest of the spots filled by men", because we had a situation whereby there were 2 blokes interested in comms officer, and no women applied til they realised that they had to otherwise the meeting would stall...

I love this:

(z) The Women’s Officer take direction from the Women’s Action
Collective (WAC) and in the advent of there not being a
fining WAC that the Women’s Officer consult with the Oracle
of Sappho.

1) Along the lines of what Townie said, is it seriously now being called "womyn"??? Good lord. I want some Linguistic freak to denounce the way "womyn" is spelt, so feminists can no longer make up words as such

2) Isn't it a little bit ironic that a male could potential get the role of the "Womyn's" Officer? If I was all feministy (which I'm not), I wouldn't want a male in that role. I mean, how the hell do you know what it's like to be a woman?

It's ok...I'm a chick and I don't even know what it's like to be a woman by the feminists standards. Supposedly I'm being discriminated against. Oooppps musta been asleep that day!

Re: SRC Reps and OB's for 2007

its a joke

sappho was the famous female greek poet from lesbos who wrote a couple love poems about females.

ancient greece had lots of oracles of different gods who fortold the future. most famous being the oracle at delphi.

You are discriminated against, by the affirmative action policies which suppose you're incapable of performing on the same level as a man could, and by compulsory maternity leave.

If feminists want to be called womyn I want to be called a whoa-man.

Affirmative action is gay. I don't want to be elected just because I'm a chick, I want to be elected because I'm the best person for the job. If a guy happens to be better, good for him, he deserves the job.

Haha I just remembered that I got elected as secretary for Maksoc a little while ago, even though I wasn't at the AGM, and even though I had no desire to be secretary. They just needed a female on the executive, and the guys who run Maksoc know me.
