Do we have to *know* and be able to write the algorithms for all the "standard algorithms"?

i.e. Binary/Linear Search, Bubble/Insertion/Selection Sort?

Or do we just have to know how they work and stuff?

Anyone? :(

I'm fairly sure you need to either be able to write them in pseudocode or display them as flowcharts... the Board of Studies document "Methods of Algorithm Description" would be particularly useful. Although it was originally designed for the old 3u Computing Studies course, it is still relevant.

Unfortunately, copies of it are difficult to obtain. We used to host one here on the site but it appears to have not been transferred across to the new server yet. Email me and I'll upload it when I get home.

you should know how to write them........ but generally if you know how they work you'll be able to work them out...
