is it better to be coming first in standard and doing extremely well or be ranked about 4th doing advanced during the hsc year? non-selective public school.

dude if you're good enough to get 4th in advanced (assuming you have a decent sized year i guess) then stay in advanced.

Standard is of no benefit to anyone. Do not let anyone try to convince you otherwise.

'aswell' isn't a word.
And he does 4 Unit English as well.
I'm sorry your perception of of English Standard kids as "retarded" is as small as a pinhole.
Just because someone isn't good at English doesn't mean they are not good at other subjects.
FAIL.

Yeah man, not pressing down on the 'spacebar' hard enough when writing a post on an internet forum is totally a sign you should not be doing EE2.

You keep on insisting you Standard kids are not as fucking stupid as we think you are, yet you continue to write posts like this. step up or give up :santa:

Not everyone can get a Band 6 in Advanced :D
Just like no-one bar maybe three or four per cohort can get Band 6 in Standard.

Only < 0.02% of the total Standard gets a band 6. Which is around 5-6 people each year.

No one's perfect.
I was initially placed in English Standard and I don't mind being in English Standard and I like being in the top English Standard class.
In fact some Advanced kids are better off in Standard.

About at least three Advanced kids dropped to our English class.

The English Faculty wanted to convert a whole class to Standard. But the advice is really to stick to the course which you're comfortable with.

回覆: Re: standard or advanced

Well .... Maybe I'm going to drop to standard after the exams if I perform badly. I'm doing ok in advance , a bit below average . I think the things we are learning in advance are much more interesting than standard, especially the books like Othello,Pride and Prejudice and The Joy Luck Club...It 's hard a write a good essay in the exam to me...
I don't know if I should drop advance too. We have a better teacher in advance class but the teacher in standard is boring....
