I know this is farfetched...but does anyone work in the gaming section at Star City Casino? I am interested in getting some part time work as a trainee dealer...would be awesome fun.

Yeah it is apparently an awesome job... I applied and got knocked back because they only wanted people that had no other committments

Apparently working at star city is tops, there are heaps of staff perks, except you can't gamble in the casino.

yeah i have a friend working there currently who underwent the training, but he hates

although the pay is good, the gamblers are wankers and working in a casino is not fun when having to handle people all the tme and follow their strict regulations

but he just started out there, even though he likes to gamble...i think he just doesnt like to be the dealer and not have some fun himself

and what ash said is true, he isnt allowed to go in there, not even with friends...which pissed me off, but i didnt want him to lose his job

Also, they put you on a 24/7 roster, so you might be working 8pm-4am, up to 5 times a week. It won't take long for you to get sick of that

Star City doesn't offer PT/Casual work they only offer Full-time due to the Enterprise Agreement they signed with the union but if you work there for about a year then you can apply for PT/Casual position due to the time you been there.

The major start time for a dealer is

4:00am - 12:00pm (Morning Shift)
12:00pm - 8:00pm (Day Shift)
8:00pm - 4:00am (Night Shift)

You only work on 2 of the three major start time with 2months on each usually on a day/night rotation.

Also you got to remember that the training you do for the dealer school you don't get paid for it. which is 3 weeks full time.

3 weeks unpaid? that sucks, what's the pay like when you actually start working?

$15.7989 p/hr (First 3 months)
$17.0227 p/hr (after 3 months)

There's also penalty rates depending on the times which you work


Also there's pay rises for getting more games you can deal.

my friend only has the job because hes going to be doing maths at oxford, but they dont start till september

so thats how he was able to get a full time job until he has to leave, but yes hes good at maths

You have to be on a constant 24/7 rotating roster. You also can't eat in any of the cafes and resteraunts that SC owns.

My friend worked there because she lived close, but she had to quit cos of uni.

This is easily avoided, apparently, by learning all the basic odds- when you first start out on the Black Jack tables, they put you on tables where you can only bet certain amounts (nfi how much, but it's like groups of 10 or 5$, apparently) so you can easily remember the odds: it's just a matter of learning a page of numbers by rote. The customers don't really care, though, if you can't spit them up quickly.

my friend works as a dealer. apparently he was one of 3 out of 50 or something people who applied. he's 19. dunno how much he gets paid but he loves it.
