i did think that the reason for the Z tables. but now that i think about it, if you split it into like 4 parts with limits it'd be doable, no? 2 cuts at the points of inflexion and one at the maximum? i don't know what i'm talking about, i don't even know what the eqn of a normal dist looks like either!

if u dun use the tables, you'd prolly integrate it by parts, find the area underneath from negative infinity to the point u are at and then do whatever wiv it depending on whether u doing 1 or 2 tail test.
on the other hand..u could use the table..or chuck it into minitab
