for the stat assignment, q2 part d, i have proved that the mean of the reciprocals of x is not equal to the reciprocal of the mean of x.
i was wondering, without asking for the answer, if proving it algebraically and then using the data from q1 as an example to further show that the 2 are unequal is enough.

It is actually greater than or equal to. She said that a counter example is sufficient, but you get extra marks for the "extra insight". (so i did both)

did you use example of another sample to show that it can be greater than or equal to?

No, i did it purely algebraicly (well, i did use calulus to show that for any integers a and b, a/b+b/a>=2).

7 = just as boring as stat171
2 = the number of times people fail b4 they take the hint

i got 28.5/30, sort of below average I guess, lucky it's only 2%...

Man i had a massive hang-over when she asked me to get up and explain my solution to 2d to everyone in the tute. Not cool...
