k... just a question out of interest

I calculated my internal for mathematics to be 92.7%... which will obviously be rounded off to 93%

the person coming fisrt has an internal mark of 98.4% which may be rounded off to 99%

say i get 100% in the HSC exam... now i know the person ranked first will now have an internal of 100%...

and say the person ranked 1st get's 98% in the external...

now obviously their final mark would be 99%... (i.e the average)... (or watever ... say they get 100%... their final will be 100%)

however... i was interested to know whether this could possibly lift my internal high enough to give me a state ranking... even though my internal was 93%... is there a possibility my internal may be lifted to 98% or above...?

now I know ReNcH last yr recieved a final mark of 98% which didn't earn him a state ranking... whilst acmilan recieved a final mark of 99% which was equivalent to 3rd in the state... I know acmilan was ranked 1st... what were u ranked ReNcH?

now i know u guys aren't the boardofstudies... which is why i direct this question to previous students or those who may know someone who has experienced a situation similar to that described above.

i'm not expecting replies..lol.. but 1 or 2 would be nice... thanks!!!

it all depends on your rank and how well your fellow classmates do.

Hehe...I guess you knew I would read this physician :p

Acmilan got a raw mark of 118/120. I got no more than 116/120, but I don't know my exact state ranking. Afaik, someone captain_pi knows got 98 and was placed in the top 20. They may well have got 98.49. I may have got 97.5 - there's no way to tell. I probably ranked somewhere in the top 100, but whether I was 100, 99, 98....22, 21 I'll never know.

As for your original question: there's no way to tell whether or not you'd get a state ranking, seeing as the candidature differs each year and you can't predict the ability of all of the students in the state. Given that the gap between you and first is 5.7%, I'd be inclined to say that a state ranking would be difficult. Nevertheless, it's still possible so by all means go for it :)

lol...yeh i was hoping u read this thread... hehe

ahh... lol u didn't answer my other question.. what was ur internal ranking?

oh and yeh.. the gap is pritty big because i was still a little rusty at the beginning of the year..hehe... i did really bad compared to the person ranked first in the first 2 assessments... but i managed to come 2nd missing out on equal 1st by 1% in the trial... ARGGGGG .. could have come first if it wasn't for one simple question i was too arrogant to read...

and in regards to the cadidature...would u happen to know how many ppl on average actually do obtain a raw mark of 100 in the exam... of course i understand this will differ from yr to yr... but do u have any idea as to previous yrs?

in regards to what azn_gangsta81 said... well I strongly believe that everyone in my class will obtain a higher mark in the HSC exam compared to their total internal mark... which means all our internals will be scaled up...

anyways.... what's important now is for everyone to try their best.... i'm not too concerned with a state ranking..lol... i was just curious... as long as i beat my teachers maths mark i'm happy...lol... (she got 96%)...nah ... as long as i get the mark i want i'm happy.. although a state ranking would be nice... I just hope the question 10 this yr is the same standar as the question 10 in this yrs CSSA trial

well .. thank u for u replies guys... greatly appreciated

To answer your first question, I was ranked first in my grade in 2U last year.
When you say raw mark of 100, do you mean 100% or 100/120? If it's the latter I don't know. However, very few students would get 120/120 in the HSC exam - probably 2 or 3 at most I'd imagine.

Hehe...thanks for the support Physician :)
I made the decision not to do MX1 again last week. I was hesitant, but I figured that I'd be better off dedicating some time to my other subjects.
As for the 100 UAI...it's going to require a lot of work. I've figured that I need to get around 97 (aligned) in all of my subjects, which will be a substantial challenge...especially for English. I'll settle for 99.95 though :p
