hey there
i have written this on the uts forum as well but i dont think there are even any education ppl on there so ill try here as well...
im not sure if any other unis have to do a "statement of philosophy" but has anyone?
anyone no any roles of the parent that would have a humanist perspective.???..man this is crap...

We had to do a statement of our teaching philosophy for ed. psych. at Macquarie. It's just an outline of how you'd ideally like to manage the classroom and relate to the students in your class, but we linked these ideas with classroom management techniques and specific philosophies (humanist, constructivist etc).

And from a humanist perspective, the role of the parent would be to take an active interest in their child's education. That is, what is being taught at the school, how the child feels about what's being taught, the child's relationship with the teacher, understanding that educating the child in academic areas isn't the sole purpose of schooling etc. Also, motivating the child would also factor largely in this..
