i just did my first english advanced assessment task a few days ago and i feel like i didn't do well. i was just wondering if anyone had any eng adv tips on analysing texts + writing essays.

my teacher isn't the best as well... i feel like i get dumber whenever i'm in her class. she has been no help to me in terms of essay writing. should i get an english tutor?

You might have to be a bit specific with what exactly you're struggling with, but here are some general tips.
For analysing texts, make sure you know your literary techniques very well, and train yourself to recognise them in any texts that you read. Also, know the rubrics for the different modules from head to toe, particularly the common mod rubric, so that you know what kind of analysis they're looking for.
For essays, ensure that you're answering the question explicitly and progressing your argument throughout each paragraph. Use complex ideas in each paragraph, and select evidence that best supports these ideas.
