There is this girl in my economic class who:
1) wastes 20-25 mins of class time asking questions because she doesn't bother reading the textbook
2) needs the teacher to repeat to her the information 2-3 times each lesson
3) is allowed to hand in her essays late because she doesn't "understand" the question asked
4) because of her irrelevant questions, has hindered the whole class from moving forward

She doesn't have mental disabilities (she's quite smart) but just enjoys acting stupid....and is possibly just seeking attention
To the horror of our class she has decided to go on with economics in year 12 and we are really worried... should we talk to the teacher? or just leave it?
And also..if you are someone that shares the same traits as mentioned above.. Why would you do this to the whole class?

should express concern
but not to a point where you start to start blaming her for slow progress

LoL, none of my classes I actually learn from my teacher;)
Especially our IPT class, the teacher takes the whole lesson to READ 2 PARAGRAPHS with the students, he like goes around the class to read lol...
I just told him that it's wasting my time and he shouldn't get me involved and he agreed to let me study on my own:)

Is this girl you describe an attention-seeker in social situations as well as in class? Personally I've never experienced anyone asking too many questions, but by all means approach your teacher if you and your classmates believe it's hindering your progress through the course.

Btw. doesn't your teacher get annoyed as well?

Hmm.... I disagree... Economics for me so far has been relatively straight forward... a lot of it is common sense.

coming from someone who had to rely on a textbook over the course of the yr (class was useless so i didn't go half the time)...it's possible.

just try some independent learnign and see the teacher in non class time or whatever

Yea this person likes doing things so that everyone notices her and she likes to play dumb even when she is smart. GRRR and its costing our class a lot of time... I mean.. it wouldn't affect anyone if she was an attention seeker in social situations! It just annoys our class when she interrupts alll the time.
And to answer your second question.. I really wouldn't know what the teacher thinks.... LOL

If it concerns you, you can also be honest with your teacher, and tell him that if the girl asking the questions does indeed not understand, he should answer her questions outside of classtime to be fair to other students.

Yeah I was thinking of taking a group of people to talk to the teacher so that the teacher knows that we are serious about this and that the majority agrees that this is a problem

Yeah I reckon that it's a fair request... That way if she really is struggling with economics, your teacher can still help her, and not waste classtime at the same time

that would be really irritating.. i mean, we all miss instructions sometimes and all that but if someone is constantly asking qs its really stupid and annoying

Does she know that you and your classmates dislike the fact that she asks too many questions?

Your teacher should understand if you have a problem with her, unless she's a teacher's pet or similar. Approach the teacher with one or two other students...any more and it will just look as though you're trying to target her deliberately to cause trouble and the teacher will be less inclined to help you.

They're still at uni, so you gotta live with them.
