Id had the same art teacher since year eight, then when we started yr 11 we were told another one would 'share' the teaching. I thought it would be great cause the new one had so many great ideas, turned out he hardly gave a shit bout our major works, and taught us jack. Our other teacher put in loads of extra hours, but cause they halved the class time we ended up with like 2/3rds of a teacher.........sharing sux

ur not marked against painting if you do photography. they have "specialists" for each section. 40/50 is bloody fantastic! my teacher said that once your over the 35 mark that its really good. theres heaps of competition and yeah it does suck if you dont get what you want but really in the end, if ur happy with it then thats the best thing. I had techers who didnt like my photos but i dont care. i like them and although i would love to get into the 5-6band in art, if i dont, what can u do?

Though i do think art is too subjective. i know they have to mark it but...maybe students should mark? lol

Yeah the same thing happend to me. I spent a good part of last holidays doing my art case study. It was done totally in photoshop and looked perfect. The info was pretty darn good too.

Then two days before I had to hand it in two of my friend are messaging me for help. I go and help them out, giving them the right way to do things. They hand up two dogdy, three days work things, and they beat me.

I really cooked me at the time but it's ok now. I realised that it's one subject in one year of my life that I will have forgotten in a few years.

On the other hand the rest of the year in art has been tops. Its just good and relaxing. And I've had the same teacher for five years and he's been absolutely amazing. We got him a fighting fish. :D

I know what you mean, art teachers can be so incredibly anal. I dont understand them, one minute they will be so positive and then they will turn their back on a new work your doing because it doesnt fit in their criteria.
My art teacher for now (just finished yr 11) hated all my works, was so mean about them, told me i was lacking and all that, was heaps critical and then she ended up giving me the top mark at the end of the year. I dont understand why they have to be so incredibly bitchy. theres really no need... they get so personal, more so than other teachers. there must be something to that artsy vibe....

But maybe that was to motivate you, as they saw that the only thing to get you into gear was spite.

I dunno, maybe they're smarter than they look.

we have a tezcher's pet who gets 100% for a style shes been doing for 3 years that is anti-progressive.

she hated my idea and profusly told me so.
in the end i screwed everything and started again with threee weeks to go before markers.
i love what i have which ironically threw me up to second but my teachers won't stop delightedly telling me how 'wonderful it was that you went through all that pain- i saw you shrivel and grow and shrivel and grow- delightful!"

The art teachers where I go are champs. 'Cept for one, he's a nutter, but he doesn't teach year 12 so who cares?

Of course, I say they're champs now...ask me in a year's time ;)
