hm..........
left is negative, right is positive
the coils produce a magnetic file dp the page by a right hand screw rule, to balance the magnetic deflection of the coils, we need to apply an electric iled....
into the page
out of the page
up the page
down the page.

i know u suppose to use the handrules to determine this......
but i am stupid and i twisted my hand and still can't get the answer.....

hmmmmm, just use the right hand for everything, it's easier.... fingers in direction of flux, thumb in direction of motion, posisitve charges come out of palm, negative charges come out of back of hand. with induced currents......fingers flux, palm direction of motion, conventional current moves in oppostite directio of thumb (lenzes law)

Left hand FBI rule for force is better, use the right hand rule only for a magnetic field around a current carrying conductor.

Fleming's left hand rule: FBI
F is force - thumb
B is mag field - 1st finger
I is current - 2nd finger.
hence FBI.
its the same as the other RH one, but it might be a little easier to remember...

since (i think) you are given the vector of 2 of them, you just point the appropriate finger in the appropriate vector, and the way that the third finger points is the vector of the third value.

F = thumb = force the wire is pushed in
B = pointing finger = magnetic field direction
I = middle finger = Direction of current
