i mean i enjoy english but not like my other subjects so idk. but that also goes for economics (commerce currently). would the 1 extra unit of english require the same amount of work as the 2 units of econ?
sorry for the delayed response!
I would personally say to pick economics out of the two options based on what you've said but that's just my opinion, definitely trust your own gut! my reason is that if english is one of your least favourite subjects, then 3 units of english will be very overwhelming. that's one extra english assessment per term, a couple extra books you will have to read in your holidays, extra time you need to study for english in the afternoon, another period of english on your timetable, another essay to study for in the hsc etc. etc. which might be hard to maintain your effort towards if you don't like the subject a lot
but also, consider looking into other subjects your school offers! don't think that you have to pick economics cause you picked commerce as your elective in junior school. trust me, hsc subjects are completely different and you'll be at no disadvantage whatsoever if you pick something that you haven't tried out before. for e.g. my junior elective was a pdhpe subject, didn't particularly enjoy it, and so I picked hsie subjects in senior years (history, legal studies etc) and have been able to perform well. but i'd definitely recommend not picking any subject on a whim and look at the syllabus (which shows what you'll learn) to see if it interests you! chances are if you are interested in it, you will study it a lot more and do well
sorry for the rant but I hope this helps!
