This is with reference to English Extension 1 in particular. You have to count your two best units of English... so if you do three units, can you count EE1 and then 'one of your two' in Advanced?

And then.. if all your other subjects are each an even number of units, you can't count EE1 in any way in your ten units?

What if you do, say, three units each of English and maths. Your best subject by far is EE1, but you completely screwed up ME1 and all your other subjects are two units? What happens then? What's counted? Just the better case?

However if you do EE2, you can count the extension units instead of the advanced units, right?

Lots of questions. Any answers are appreciated.

Yes, you can replace one of your advanced english units with the one extension 1 english unit.

Yes you can, if it's good enough to be in the best 10 units.

Your best 10 units are counted, so if you do well in extension 1 english, then that will be counted, and if you have only 10 units, then extension 1 maths would count as well. Basically, top ten units count.

Yes, if you do extension 2 english, then you can have both extension units count for your english units in your UAI.

I would like to point out that YOU don't choose which are your best 10 units - the computer that calculates the UAI does.

The computer has all the results and will calculate your UAI to give you the best UAI it can, taking into account the best two units of English.

SS- Hey, thanks for all that. :)

cem- Yeah, I know that much.

Sorry but from the way you wrote I wasn't sure if you did realise this, or like one of my students last year, wanted to know how to choose the units to tell the UAC people which units to include in their UAI calculation.

I have a similar question. If you do extension 2 english (or maths for that matter), can it count without your extension 1 english (or maths) mark counting?

So theoretically, you could write a brilliant 4-unit english piece, but not bother even turning up for the 3-unit exam or going to classes? You could then do 3-unit maths or history, to make up for the odd number of units you would have.

Is this correct?

It's theoretically possible, if you fuck up extension 1 english and absolutely destroy extension 2 english, and you have more than 10 units and extension 1 english is not one of your best 10 units, then yes, that could happen. You probably have to turn up to classes though and do the assignments to ensure that you actually pass extension 1 english.
