With dan, to the sa paper guy, "He's a Jew, I'm a Liberal. Fuck off."
I am going to increase the amount of violent anti-Semitism and spitwads I launch towards the Jews and Liberal members of USyd this year in retribution.

edit: congrats to silver persian!

Hahaa, check out this reply from a douche from the philosophy department

Hi Jim,
Sorry, but even recorded lectures are not supposed to be a substitute for
attendance. I know some people do this, and most people don't mark
attendance at lectures, but the student system isn't even supposed to allow
you to be enrolled in classes that overlap lecture times. If you have two
classes overlapping PHIL2645, then I can't see that you'd be able to attend
at all. Under those circumstances I'm afraid I can't agree to your
enrolment in PHIL2645.
Sincerely,
Rick

So not looking forward to uni on monday, not to mention my student ID hasn't come yet!
Super lamerz.
same here. maybe its because there is a plastic shortage? i remember hearing on the radio about complaints because one bank can't give out new credit cards to peoples that have expired because they have no plastic or something

My reply:

Rick,

I've unenrolled from this course and replaced it with another from outside the philosophy department, but I think you've been entirely unreasonable and unfair. Students frequently substitute lectures for their recordings and those same students manage to do quite well. I'm fairly sure I would have been able to do it again, after managing to do it once in first year. Considering the interest I had in the course, I'm sure I would have managed if you had have went to the very small trouble of providing recorded lectures.

On the subject of recorded lectures being a substitute, I disagree entirely. In my experience as a student I've noted that lecture recordings do provide an adequate substitute. After all, the same material is generally given to a student who attends, and a student who listens to the lecture material elsewhere (barring some fancy, unpublished diagrams on the blackboard).

I should have been ruder :(

what time do the timetable change places open in the morning?
Opens at 9AM if I remember correctly Chad.

And SP, congrats! Yay! That's so awesome. :)
And Neb, wth? I'd unenroll in his class too. Also, you were nice in your reply. :S
I would have been like, "the way you responded has propelled me to unenroll in your class. Thanks for nothing and good luck for the rest of the semester!". (Except more eloquently).
