do we have to know some examples of superconductors and their superconducting temps for the HSC?

Yes. You must know examples of metals, metal alloys and compounds that are superconductors and their respective critical temperatures.

Extract from the syllabus:

Process information to identify some of the metals, metal alloys and compounds that have been identified as exhibiting the property of superconductivity and their critical temperatures

I dont think so, you only need to know their properties, common examples and what critical temperatures are, becasue i have looked through some past HSC papers and they had tables of superconductors which are given to u. In other words all u really need is the scientific development of superconductors from having just the element itself with really really low critical temps to nowadays which we have developed ceramics (bigger compounds) which have higher critcial temps thus making it beneficial for society as they have zero resistance=no heat
