i heard it's lucky to carry a quartz into the exam. don't know the reasoning behind it though
My mum made me carry two stones 'cause she's such a dirty, hippy, pagan weirdo. First one was Rose Quartz for calming...I loved thinking about throwing it at one of the examiners just to have her turn around and go "WHO WAS THAT *wobblewobble* I'm such a fat bitch".

The other was a green crystal, for strength. I lost that one...lost, broke same thing...I still don't know how I broke it in my Maths test...

When I write notes out when I study, I always make sure to use that same pen in the exam. I read somewhere that if you use the same pen, you're more likely to remember. :p

One time also I took my 'lucky' chinese coin into an exam and then i went crap anyway, so I never used that coin again.

I'm the same, as well, I convinced myself that I went bad, so when the mark comes back I'm either really happy or not to disappointed. I find if I think I went bad, I'll go well and vice versa eg in my English speech, I thought it was really good and then I only got 13/15 :chainsaw:

i forget about the exam the moment the time is up - i never discuss the paper right after, or try to predict my marks.
It helps to focus....

I've worked out the best method of approach:

If you think you've done well in a test, sit up the front. That way, the zen energy that flows from the teacher as he/she hands back your papers infuses with your thoughts and changes your marks. But, if you think you did badly, sit at the back and you won't have much trouble with Zen energies.

At least that's my 4-unit english, no science interpretation.

He's right, it happened to me today. Dammit, I should've sat at the back!

I just had my year 11 half yearlys, and although I haven't got my marks back yet, I found that chewing gum in all my exams really calmed me down, and helped me focus. Whether or not you're actually allowed chew gum in an exam, I do not yet know. Also, I always have to put my bottle of water on the ground to my right, and keep my desk REALLY organised. It stresses me if it's not right. We'll see whether these work for me when I get my marks back.. Eeek!

The night before an exam or an assessment, I usually don't do anything study-wise at all (it's the Eleventh Hour, if I don't know it by then, I'm not gonna learn it all by the start of the exam). I just try to take my mind off things and get a decent night's sleep so that the next morning I'm clear-headed and focused. Works every time.
That, my friend, is not superstition.

It is exam technique. :uhhuh:

i have a thing about where i sit...we have to sit in alphabetical order mostly so i dont get much choice, but the point is that if where i am feels "right" i know i'll do well. but if it doesnt then i worry. i also like to wear my favourite socks and do my hair nicely, because i hate feeling distracted by little trivial details during exams, and i know i would get so bugged if i had crap hair or scratchy socks. a bit nutty, but true. great socks = great mark in my opinion.
