Ok, ok...
Can I ask you a question? Do you think you were born gay, or your sexuality developed? (and if it developed, did you have a bad experience with a girl?)
you dont have to answer, I've always been curious to know.
If you want, you could add me to MSN, and I think I could explain it better in a convo.
But-
Being a psych student, you may be able to disprove my idea, or articulate it better, but I think that sexuality is a very primitive thing. If you brought up a group of babies without setting any kind of sexual example to them, I think they'd still have sex with each other. Basically, being gay is naturally incorrect.
Rationally, it's wrong; the only reasons I think that exist, rationally, for it is 1. being with a guy could be better because "a guy knows what a guy wants". and 2. Guys tend to hang around with other guys more, ie at work and at play. These may be good reasons for straight guys to mess around with other guys (gay or not), but they aren't aren't reasons to be actually gay. If you're going to say "doesn't doing gay things make you gay?", I'd reply "no."
I think straight guys can mess around (I've done a lot of stuff with straight guys), and still be straight, like how gay guys can mess around with girls and be gay (I can't say I've done much on that front, but I could); but being actually gay is more (like being straight is more) than just lust, it's the ability to actually love another guy, and I really don't think straight guys can imitate that.
So I guess that I'd have to say whilst being able to show your queerness and being with a guy DOES depend on your environment and your upbringing, I think that you come out of your mum with some sort of genetic mutation that makes you actually gay. I'm not discounting your upbringing or your environment as a facture, it's huge. I could be gay and not admit it to myself till I'm an old man- a lot of people don't because it's rationally wrong. It's too deep to be altered by your nurture. Maybe in psychological terms (I may or may not be making these up
), you're born gay, but your manifestations and actions from it depend on your environment and upbringing.
Edit: Did I see you in the X5B building? I was walking out of a lecture, and I think it was you. I got my friend to call out "MJ", but you didn't turn around. So then I started whistling "Mary Jane" by the Beatles, but you didn't turn around again. THen we gave up.
