Ok! who's turning off their lights this saturday?

:) Hippie style.

SYDNEYSIDERS are being urged to take a walk on the dark side of the harbour city when the lights go off for Earth Hour on Saturday.
Homes, hotels and businesses will turn out their lights for an hour from 7.30pm as part of efforts to cut Sydney's greenhouse gas emissions by five per cent in the next 12 months.

The organisers of Earth Hour, WWF Australia, say there are plenty of ways Sydneysiders will be able to see in the dark on Saturday, and a moon approaching its full phase will shed its own lustre on the occasion.

The popular vantage points for big events, including Circular Quay, the Rocks and the Domain, will provide the best opportunity of seeing the city in blackout.

Some hotels will light up candles while others will provide their clientele with torches.

At Sydney Tower, the city's tallest building, two special tours will be held on its open-air skywalks, with participants being given high-tech glow sticks.

On the skywalk tour - across two levels of purpose-built walkways and onto the moving glass platforms stretching over the tower's edge - people are harnessed to safety rails via sliding cables.

Sydney Tower Marketing Manager Thomas Davey said the two tours, beginning at 6.30 and 7.15pm, were in big demand.

"On a clear night, the absence of light in the city skyline should give city-slickers a rare chance to see more stars and a harbour bathed in moonlight,'' Mr Davey said.

Event organisers are asking businesses in Sydney, North Sydney and Parramatta - which together form Australia's largest business district - to turn off their lights at 7.30.
