ok i dont know where to start! or if i should of put this thread in here, but
im currently studying graphics + design (tafe) and nearly my 1st year is over
ive decided this is not exactly what i want to do with my life :)|)
i mean, i dunno.. its a great course + i love design.. but not graphics!

so im thinking of taking a year off
to work, get some money behind myself
maybe do work experience
see what interests me, and get some knowledge of what i really want to do with life!

i have been thinking of this for the past month
and only told my parents tonight
my dad is ok with it
my mum is chucking a fucking mental and will throw me out of the house if i leave

i dunno why parents are so fucked up some times
i mean if it doesnt make me happy, then why should i do it!!!
anyway so my mums a freak.. and thinks im a major unmotivate shit! i can understand her, coz im a bludger.. and thinks that if i stop studying now i will never go back..
i mean i want to try out differnt stuff, do interior design in 2007..

but im really keen to take a year off to work!

has anyone stopped study to take a year off???
if so, what did u do?
did you go back to study?!?

yeah, take a year off!

i intend to do that sometime, since i didn't do a gap year...
but not next year becoz my course is really exciting then (our class is pioneering a new design studio business), as it will be the year after (already planned that too). Hopefully within 5 years though...

:edit: i intend to study german in Germany for one year, whilst visiting Austria, Czech Republic, Switzerland, France, Denmark, England, etc. on breaks. Europe really appeals to me, mostly for its art, design and architectural heritage. Going there would really be inspiring! Hopefully will some time within the next 5 years. Need money first.

hey otay, out of interest, approx. how many euro do you need per month to survive in europe? Also, how easy/hard is it to pick up a job over there?

thnx :)

I'm taking a year off just to get some money behind me, and hopefully enough for a trip to vietnam or europe at the end of the year, if your worried about getting back into the mode of studyin, dont get out of it, do short courses through tafe, learn a language do something that fills out your resume! Go for it
