Yes it's a cognitive process.

Especially if something condradicts or doesn't make sense.

I don't talk to myself when I study, but recently I've started reading aloud when I read books. It helps me focus on the story, plus I like the sound of my voice and I like practicing clear pronunciation while I study.

I've talked to myself quite a lot while studying. Usually it's "Xuan, you can do this! Maybe."

Today it was "And Antony is juxtaposed with Caesar in terms of parallels in roles and personal standards as well as status."

Tomorrow it'll be equations ...

Yea i found myself always reading everything out aloud whilst studying esp during the HSC and now when i study for uni... I guess if u can repeat something out loud its like being able to teach someone else, hence you can remember it

However it doesnt work with everyone, some ppl write it out etc

yeha i do a lil swearing every now and then to get me G'D UP!!...my study plans have not been flowing according to my expectations, but i do talk to myself lol, i just explain to myself every dot point jsut as a recap session...but it works for me, helps to stay focused and blocks out other sounds from distracting me
