I think we should decide who should come in or not. Or the tamils can gladly go to singapore or malaysia, their lives are not at risk there. Are human rights being violated? Sure. Were there warcrimes committed? allegedly. Was there a genocide? highly questionable when there's other shit going on in the world.
What's the relevance of "other shit going on in the world" to whether genocide was committed or not? The attributes of genocide are found under Article 2 of the UN Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide, none of which make any reference to "other shit going on in the world." (The Convention)

I agree that genocide is typically questionable in nature but not considering "other shit going on in the world" (for reasons beyond mere means of what is in the convention). Other shit went on in the world during the Stolen Generation and the Rwanda Genocide, doesn't make them any less of a genocide...

Myanmar had a systematic auto-genocide going on in that country. Tamil's in Sri-Lanka were fighting an ethno-national civil war. No shit the government would be cracking down on tamil rights, but it's highly questionable whether a genocide has been committed in the first place. The civil war is over that's why the Aussie gov is not in taking anymore sri lankan refugees. To be honest the world really doesn't care about genocide. Civil wars/genocides in africa has death tolls above 5 million people and everybody essentially turns a blind eye. So much for "never again."
