:) thanks 4 that but hmm... thats what i got.... must be a mistake in my other working out... h8 when that happens lol

can u plz give this question a go with working out....

Find the volume of the solid formed when the curve y = e^-x + 1 is rotated about the x-axis from x=1 and x=2, correct to 1.d.p

1

pi[-e-2x/2 - 2e-x + x] 21

= pi[(-e-4/2 - 2e-2 + 2) - (e-2/2 - 2e-1 + 1)]

=4.8 (1dp)

Yeah, try to be very careful in your working, one little error and your final answer will be wrong.

But even if you think it's wrong still try and get an answer since working out will sometimes give you marks

d/dx ln[f(x)] = f'(x)/f(x)

so d/dx [ln(lnx)]

= (1/x)/lnx

= 1/(xlnx)

Find the point of inflexion on the curve y = xlogex - x2

y'=(lnx+1)-2x
y''=(1/x)-2=0
Point of Infexion when y''=0
(1/x)-2=0
(1-2x)/x=0 [x*0]
1-2x=0
x=1/2
y=1/2ln(1/2)-1/4
POI=(1/2,[1/2ln(1/2)-1/4])

Then test for change in concavity

Problem involving Volume:

Find the volume of the solid formed when the curve y = 2/√(2x-1) is rotated about the x-axis from x = 1 to x = 5, giving in exact form
