I just got a job at Target and start there in a week and a half. The supervisor who interviewed me said that while I was at induction and training, I would have to wear "professional attire". What sort of dress would be suitable?

Also, when I get my red Target shirt, what kind of pants etc. can I wear?

Thanks =]

Hey there,

Since you're new, where a white blouse and a skirt that goes just past ur knees or black pants- like business, not denim, striped, etc.

Once I rocked up completely out of place and they sent me home :(

What target do you work at?

Pacific Fair, apparently all the stock for all stores on the Gold Coast goes there first and it's a pretty big store. =]

I've had a few friends work at target and they've said:

White business shirt (collared, buttoned down, i'm sure you know what I mean)
Black pants or suitable skirt

I think that as a part of your induction they give you a form to order shirts, but this isn't compulsory. (I know someone who's been there 5 months and still hasn't ordered a target shirt)

Good Luck with the new job :)

Why did so many of you guys turn up in casual gear? Isn't it obvious that you should wear professional attire?

it depends on the place u work as to how strict they are on jumpers and such.

i wear jsut a normal pure black billabong jacket to work - it only says 'billabong' in small writing which i cover with my name badge mostly. also i wear black cargo pants to work. they are neat/professional but not what people would consider the 'normal business attire'.

i can understand people wearing smart casual but i guess it depends on the business and how 'smart' it is. i would definitely ask/check out what others are wearing before making my decision. but there is a variety of clothing worn at my work - but all neat appearance and the appropriate colours.

For an interview, smart casual generally doesn't cut it.
Professional attire is (obviously, and as I know you already know) Black or dark coloured business pants or skirt of suitable length, and a button up collared shirt or similar smart-looking top for a girl.

hey i use to work at target they want you to wear a plain white buttoned shirt just like a school dress shirt 3/4 would be best short sleeve will do. and black pants just black but make sure they are the ones you would wear to school for example. and shoes black like you would for school heels dont mater but remember it has 2 be enclosed and cover your whole foot and you are working on your feet constantly (except in lay-by) greatest bludge ever lol

goodluck with your new job ;)

*nods*

Black pants [not jeans] and white collared shirt is the way to go.
I'm also not sure about a skirt.. no-one seems to wear skirts..

When they say "professional" it's like how somebody said, if you wear an extra layer it has to be like a black cardi [females].. No navy, no hoods, no large logos.

Like the crap at Portmans or whatever business-like attire you can find that's plain.

target uniforms do not cater for the big boned, or so ive noticed
Really?

Target is a branch off Coles and the Coles uniforms are freaking massive. We have two office ladies that would easily fit into two chairs and they have very decent sized shirts.
