If you have two jobs, and earn enough in one week to be taxed for both jobs, how is the tax worked out? Would they calculate each job separetly or both together?

generally when you fill out that tax form thingy, you select the job which gives you the lower pay that they tax you from.

or they tax more. can't remember lol

from personal experience, i think what they do is that individually tax you (PAYG). then you fill in you return, again, individually stating what was your total gross pay and how much you paid in tax.

then they combine the two figures and work it out.

so to answer the original question, they would individually tax you by the PAYG method and anything extra would be sorted out when you file your return.

that sounds like you are getting over taxed. even if you are...you should get it back in you return.

i think the tax brackets are:

0 - 6K: no tax
6K - 12K: 10c/$1
12K - 20K: 20c/$1
....

should be a guidline to how much you get taxed. be careful though...if you get paid $1500 a week then they will assume that you get paid that amount every week so they'll tax you accordingly...this you get back in the return

You are taxed 47.5 cents for every dollar you earn in a second job. You get most back at tax time, but you can only claim the tax-free threshold for your first job.

This is why taking a second job to earn more money is not always such a good idea, cos you have to work twice as hard to make the money.

Last time I checked the tax brackets were:
$0 - 6000: no tax
$6001 - $20 000: 17c for each dollar over 6K
$20 001 - $50 000: $2380 plus 30c for each dollar over 20K
$50 001 - $60 000: $11380 plus 42c for each dollar over 50K
$60 001+: $15580 plus 47c for each dollar over 60K.

Thats so crap getting taxed the full rate for a second job...but at least u get it back at tax time. Which is good cos u get a shitload of unexpected money yay
