hey i have a bit of a problem! i dunno what the symbolism or meaning of the line
'the cats in the cradle and the silver spoon,' is... and yes it's quite a problem as it's the line which entitles the song! haha so i don't think i could sucessfully convince the marker that i know all about the inner journey the dad has if i dunno what this line means!!... so if any ideas would be fantastic!! thanx

simply an allusion to a popular nursey rhyme perhaps?

hey diddle diddle
the cat and the fiddle
the cow jumped over the moon
the little boy laughed to see such fun
and the dish ran away with the spoon.

this could be symbolic of a twisted personal relationship between the son and the father (am I thinking of the right song?), where the father perhaps never cared for his son in the way the mother did during his younger years?

That would be my take on it perhaps.

Someone else will probably provide you with a better response. I hope this helps in some way though.
