Telecommunication Engineering or Electrical Engineering? (1 Viewer)

In relation to job prospects..also the concepts in both degree's would be quite similar, am i correct?

I believe that electrical engineering is more broad, whilst telecommunications being a specialist stream of electrical engineering is more narrow.

So in terms of job prospects, electrical engineering > telecommunication engineering

hi

i did put down electrical as one of my preferences but have not done physics during HSC

sowould i be able to cope?

also i did well in extension 1 maths

Go to First year course information & click on "Course availability" & read this entry and the one below it on choosing your 1st year Physics course. My son studies PV Eng, did both MX1 & MX2 in 2008 HSC but not Physics. He chose to do PHYS1111 Fundamentals of Physics in Session 1 (scored a 97 HD), then Higher Physics 1A in Session 2 (got a 77 DN). He studied equally hard for both so it gives you some idea of the difficulty difference between Fundamentals (which is harder than HSC Physics) & Higher Physics 1A. He's currently finishing Higher Physics 1B in summer session.
Get some serious advice from the EE school office - they will be able to best guide you.

What a bored person you must be to comment on something of absolutely no significance to anything in this thread. If you must know, that was HSC year of interest to me at the time I was looking around this site for any helpful info - obviously not the year I did the HSC. Does it matter?

Often times when one is young, one finds it difficult to digest that someone older (and wiser) has entered their domain and is interacting whereas all that matters on these forums is that somebody should come forward and help. It does not matter in which year they completed their HSC.

My mum now knows as much if not more about my HSC and about the unis I am applying for. Often times mothers are very qualified too, rather more qualified than a current uni seniors who can help us. Parents do more research on these matters than us kids who have just grown up.
