is doing a bachelor of arts pointless? because apart from doing a dip ed at the end... what/where else can it get you? i know it depends on the subjects you choose but just generally

lol i think of it as an interest degree. I think it will lead you into areas of literature and publications related jobs or even journalism?

The diff between a B Pysch and a B Arts (Pysch) is to do with the qualifications you can attain afterwards, from what I can remember, only a B Pysch allows to practice pysch after uni, whereas you need to do a further year or so to be able to do the equivalent with a B Arts (Pysch). I know that if you don't maintain a credit average in a B Pysch at UOW, you have to transfer to a B Arts (Pysch) or a B Science (Pysch).

I think a B Arts (Pysch) is more for doing a double major with something like management so you can go into management/recruiting career paths.

Is there anything else to tell us about Uni?
Anything that seems unusual or different from high school?

no, i dont think so .... atleast they had no lectures for the subjects i did last session ... it depends on the lecturer, if he/she wants to record it, they do ... its mainly done only for those subjects which have a lot of theory involved (eg law and some commerce subjects)

1. time flies REAL FAST !!
2. ppl dont tell u to do ur work ... it seems just like yesterday u got ur assignment question, and its due already ..
3. its like doing the hsc every 6 months ...
4. but overall, the study is more fun, cos u get to do exactly those subjects ure interested in ...

It's true though, Final Exams are pretty much the same as doing a HSC exam but it happens every semester.

I've found Uni is much more social because you have thousands of people on the same campus and also a lot less stressful because of the social side of things.

At the UNSW lecture I went to, for every hour of lectures, you would need to do 2 hours at home, or at least the equivalent hours of lecture time.

So in a given week, it should be about 33 hours+

It completely depends on what course you do. Some courses have as little as 8 hours a week, some have over 30 hours a week.
Also, some courses expect minimal work to be done outside of UNI (ie-just private study and preparation, with maybe 2 or 3 smal assessments in the whole semester), while courses require a whole lot of work to be done outside of UNI, with massive assessments and stuff like that.
So in other words-everyones workload differs greatly!

Is that like 3-4 days a week then?

How many hours would it be when you add the bcom?

Really? cool 3 days a week sounds good, even if I have to stay until 6.

At UNSW, is there another way to get from lower campus to upper campus (matthews theatres) without having to walk up those mountainous stairs?
